I Thank My TONGUE (혀) 👅

저는 제 혀에 감사합니다.

I am grateful for my tongue.

세상 모든 음식을 먹을 수 있게 해주기 때문입니다.

It’s because it allows me to eat all the food in the world.

그래서 해외여행을 하기가 편합니다.

That’s why traveling abroad is easy for me.

울면서 한국 음식점으로 달려가지 않아도 되니까요.

I don’t have to run to a Korean restaurant, crying.

Sprinting to a Korean restaurant...?

오랫동안 해외여행을 할 때 항상 이런 질문을 받습니다.

When I travel abroad for a long time, I always get this question:

“한국 음식 안 먹고 싶어요?”

“Don’t you want to eat Korean food?”

제 답변은 항상 같습니다. “전혀요!”

My answer is always the same: “Not at all!”

(지금 있는 말레이시아에서도 이 질문을 받았어요.)

I like 김밥 but...

저는 한식을 수십 년 먹었어요. 이제 안 먹어도 돼요. 😂

I’ve eaten Korean food for decades. I don’t need to eat it anymore.

남은 인생은 새로운 외국 음식을 먹어 보고 싶어요.

For the rest of my life, I want to try new foreign foods.

하지만 대부분의 한국인들은 저같지 않아요.

But most Koreans are not like me.

하루에 한 끼라도 한국 음식을 꼭 먹어야 하는 사람들이 많아요.

Many of them have to eat at least one Korean meal a day.

그래서 해외여행을 할 때 컵라면을 가져가고 한국 식당을 찾아가요.

So when traveling abroad, they bring cup ramyun and look for Korean restaurants.

그리고 여행 내내 음식 때문에 힘들어해요.

And they struggle with food throughout their trip.
